Welcome to my Blog. I used to be an academic working in Higher Education but I left because I didn’t like what was happening in the sector. You can read about that in the blog I wrote called “Elvis has left the building“. Anyhow, the half-baked education policies of the UK Government gave me the opportunity to quit and become financially secure to boot.  So, I took the money and ran!

My early blogs used to be education-biased but this is changing fast. I now blog about hiking, backpacking, gear reviews, politics, photography, performing music and anything else I find interesting. Whatever the topic, I’ve actually done it!

I am now a self employed photographer and musician. Recently, music has taken over from photography whenever I’m not backpacking or motorhoming somewhere.
