What a difference three months make! The cat that was fat and scared to death has evolved into into a semi-lean, confident mowser.
She can be picked up without risk of hernia to whoever is doing the lifting or her screaming in mock pain for starters. She is very vocal, playful and affectionate now. The nighttime ritual includes falling to sleep in the crook of my elbow for about 20 minutes before stirring herself to settle down properly at the foot of the bed. Milly has also discovered the magic of radiators…or to be more accurate laying close to them to keep warm. Although a patch of sunlight is always preferable to artificial heat.
Her Poundland “mouse on a string” has suffered badly since Christmas. All four legs have been lost and the string has been chewed through but every day she starts playing with it while looking meaningfully at me. I am the Milly-appointed mouse energiser.
When I return home she immediately jumps up and comes running to say hello. This is accompanied by loud miaows and whacks on my legs from her very muscular tail. It really is amazing to see what changes a proper diet, some fuss and a bit of playing will do to a cat in a very short time.
